Tarryhollow

An expansive residence on a private street, this home was in need of a design overhaul. Many of the architectural features - stair banisters, columns and cabinetry - felt dated and clunky. Several spaces, including the main living room, also suffered from a lack of natural light. To remedy this we opened up the back living room wall with floor to ceiling, black steel-framed windows, and removed walls and doors to open up certain spaces and create better flow throughout. Custom white oak cabinetry replaced the painted kitchen cabinets, new marble and quartzite countertops were added and the stairway received an upgrade with a custom, black steel banister. On the lower level we updated the seating area with new built-in casework and kitchenette in a handsome Inchyra blue. The client loves color, pattern and a touch of glamor, reflected in the french gold cabinet hardware and plumbing fixtures, lively living room bar wallpaper with brass cabinet doors, and beautifully hand-painted kitchen backsplash.

The hidden gem of this project was the primary bathroom which leads out to a walled courtyard. Originally in two sections we removed the dividing wall to create a luxurious, spa-like room with marble wall tiles, a freestanding tub and a large walk-in shower with a glass door opening directly into the courtyard.
